Anderson, Indiana (October 8, 2019)- Carter Logistics is honored to have been recognized as a 2019 “Top Company for Women to Work for in Transportation” by the Women In Trucking Association. This is the second year that Redefining the Road, the official magazine of the Women In Trucking Association, has accepted nominations for the award. This year the publication received more than 150 nominations for different transportation companies and had nearly 11,000 votes to determine the winners. Carter Logistics is proud to have been nominated and deemed a top company for women to work for. The Women In Trucking Conference & Expo, Accelerate!, was held in Dallas, TX on October 1, 2019. The winners were announced and presented with awards at the banquet concluding the conference.
Shonda Claborn, Driver Relations Manager, attended the conference on behalf of Carter to accept the award. She states, “It was a pleasure and an honor to walk across that stage on behalf of all the hardworking women in our company! I strongly believe that Carter Logistics is a top company to work for. They are exceptional when it comes to fostering growth and success for their women employees, whether they work in the trucks, in the office, or out in the field!”
Carter prides itself on being a diverse company, which entails having more gender diversity. Carter believes that having women in leadership and management roles adds significant value to their workforce. Carter’s VP of Business Development, Jessica Warnke, says, “As a woman leader in our organization, I couldn’t be prouder of Carter for receiving this award from the Women in Trucking organization. Carter has always worked to increase our number of women truck drivers because we knew it made good business sense in terms of safety and longevity. However, in recent years I’ve seen the organization make strides to increase women in positions across the spectrum at Carter, from mechanics to executives. Watching this transformation over the past 7 years has been one of my favorite parts of working for this company.”
For three generations, the Carter family of companies have been evolving to meet the demands of an ever-more-connected world. What began as a modest, family-owned dealership in 1957 eventually developed into a trucking company and then into a public and globally owned logistics powerhouse with clients located around the world. In addition to our external partnerships, Carter Logistics continues to offer unparalleled shipping services through its partner carrier, Carter Express. Now with over 800 power units and 1,600 trailers, Carter Express is a recognized expert in customs and border crossings for Canada and Mexico.
